Anarchanagan: Canada's Anarchapulco!

in #anarchy4 years ago

Introducing Anarchanagan, a Liberty event in the sunny Okanagan, BC, Canada! Anarchists who can't/won't travel internationally, like myself, will soon have a chance to peacefully gather with other freedom enthusiasts to learn, share, network, create, and have fun!

The event will take place in or around the gorgeous lake city of Kelowna, and like Anarchapulco, open to the world. Conferences, speeches, workshops, performances, music, art, and fellowship with others who believe a modern society can function peacefully and efficiently without rulers.

Come together with other free and conscious people, for the 1st annual Anarchanagan - July 2021.

Never heard of Anarchanagan? That's because at this point it's nothing but a concept in my mind - and now yours.

My plan is to inspire others to get involved in the vision, and help me create it, since there's no way I could do it all myself. I'll be a planner, I'll be speaker, I'll promote and document the event, but I can't be the head coordinator and organizer.

Then again, maybe a gathering of anarchists doesn't need a leader, in order to organize and accomplish something awesome...

Will it be 'anarcho-capitalist', like Anarchapulco? Yes, in the sense that it will be a completely free market, but hopefully more emphasis on the 'anarcho' than the 'capitalist' side. More culture, less profiteering. For me, Anarchanagan won't be a moneymaking venture, but completely focused on freedom.

I do envision there being some kind of ticket process, which authorizes the attendee to participate, and allows for a small budget to pay for basic costs. I see it being a little like Burning Man, which is made up by the participants direct efforts, not simply paying a lump sum up front and expecting to be entertained. So there will be a cost, but it will be modest, and the budget will be done transparently.

I see it as something which grows year by year, organically. Exact date is yet to be determined, but it must be summer (June, July, August, or September) and preferably it should be July. For duration, 2 or 3 days seems about right - until the event grows in size and popularity :)

For the setting, there are many beachfront resorts and conference centers etc in the Okanagan, along Kalamalka and Okanagan lakes. The Kelowna area is perfect, and we would have our choice of locations. It could be on a ranch overlooking the lake, or nestled in an orchard, or right along the water. Maybe people will get their own accommodations, and attend the event throughout the day and evening.

Imagine it

Imagine being around other freethinking people who don't believe in ruling others through violence and force? Sharing your opinions and ideas with people who want to hear? Being welcomed for being a genuine and free individual? Beginning a grassroots annual tradition together?

If you feel inspired to help create something incredible along these lines, let's get in touch. What we want is attainable, and this is our time to make it happen.
