Painting Anarchy II

in #anarchy8 years ago (edited)

Hi Guys! I filmed myself painting today especially so that I could share this video with my fellow Steemians! Scroll down to view the resulting speed painting video showing me creating a brand new artwork this very morning - 'Anarchy II'.

This painting will be a gift for an #anarchist I know and love; someone who has supported my creative endeavours quietly, in the background, for very many years. They have purchased a number of my works and I hope that this piece will add enjoyment to their collection - paying it both backwards and forward, a gift for a gift 💙💙💙

So enjoyed being able to watch you create Anarchy II Jay. Such a wonderful freedom and yet you can see that there are many many many intuitively creative decisions made along the way. 🦋

Aww, I am very glad that you enjoyed it, Ally! My fella has been telling me for ages to film myself painting, and I must admit I'm getting quite into the idea now. Even the video editing is rather an enjoyable process. And you're absolutely right - it's a co-creative, guided-yet-spontaneous thing when I paint. It's an awesome feeling, and I'm glad that I can film it without the filming interfering with that.

Thank you so much for your continued support and encouragement, Ally - sending you lots of love!

Well, thank you! I hope she will like it, too! I will film more painting videos, and I may even paint more Anarchy symbols. It was a lot of fun! x

Wow pretty impressive! I used to paint way back in high school and college. I kind of wish I kept it up.

Thank you! It's never too late to start up again, you know :D I met a woman online 8 or 9 years ago now who had never picked up a paintbrush since kindergarten until she was almost 50 years old. 8 or 9 years later, after starting out as a total beginner, she's now incredibly successful - she has gained over 30k followers on Instagram in the last year alone and is selling out everything she paints. And she paints a LOT! It can be done. Even if it's 'only a hobby', it's so therapeutic! If you decide to have another go, I'd love to see what you paint! <3

great talent

Thank you :)

That's great!

Thank you!

So amazing @jaytaylor! I really like the way you paint... what was that water at first? It really looks cool, I love it.

Thanks for the video!

Nice present too, that is a beautiful gesture!

See ya

Thank you - I'm glad you enjoyed it! The recipient was really delighted with it, too, happily :o)

Yes, it was water I was painting with to start with: I was actually making use of the water in my brush wash-off pot, which is why it had a bit of colour to it!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting :o)

Jay

Thank you for explaining it. It just looks so cool as the paint flows down the water marks. Very pretty. I'm glad your anarchist friend liked it too!

My pleasure :o) It is an amazing process to play with and I'm feeling really glad that my OH badgered me into finally starting to film my painting sessions, as as well as allowing me to share it with others, it also gives me the ability to watch it happen over and over again if I want to, lol!

That's awesome! And I love the word "badger". I will have to try playing with paint like that soon... did you treat the paper before hand so ot doesn't warp when it gets wet?
