From Baghdad to Pyongyang: Is war coming to your door next?

in #anarchy7 years ago (edited)

How do they sleep? With bombs falling over head, while their children are in bed.

The recent sensationalized media scare about threats being issued from North Korea, and the history-denying (ignorant) talking points in the mainstream news recently, generating within me a concern that the US may be gearing up for a large-scale military invasion, have got me thinking:

If I feel this nervous now, how do the parents in Syria feel? I am concerned about a potential, multi-national military conflict breaking out, they already live under one, every day. We are all susceptible to the horrors of statism, and, in enough time, it will end up at everyone's door--even mine--if it is not put to an end via a conscious and philosophical revolution and paradigm shift.

In many ways, hundreds of thousands of people are waking up. It is a time to be optimistic, and at once extremely skeptical and wise. The state must be vacated. "It" has no issue with erasing individuals like you and me.

Sort:

Unexpected and uncertainity everywhere. Nobody want to live in such a situation. As a human beings we should have the right to live in peace and security. Our world leaders may forget the utmost motto of happiness, live and let live. Please friend do something to remain in peaceful place. Wish you good health and happiness and secured living. Thanks

"Live and let live." So true. The utmost motto of happiness. Wishing you the same.

Thanks from my heart friend, you are the person from where I have got so much supports and inspirations.I really care for you and your family ,specialy Isaiah your little kid.I want to share a saying of Nepali community "You should preserve the seeds, if there is starvation ,and you should protect yourself in the time of emergency ".so please stay safe and connected.

Thank you, my friend. It's really good advice.

Where we human are going? why we have not learnt from last destruction of humanity in the name of war..? Why we reject love and huminity...

"We are all susceptible to the horrors of statism, and, in enough time, it will end up at everyone's door--even mine--if it is not put to an end via a conscious and philosophical revolution and paradigm shift." Couldn't have said it better myself... Long live the Blockchain!

If we cannot remove ourselves from state control physically, we can at least do so mentally. Living happy in the knowledge that you have identified the overarching issue in the world is a practice in rebellion. You don't need to preach about anarchy when living will do.

No. It must be talked about so people can come to understand. Must be lived as well.

It absolutely needs to be talked about. When I say "preaching" I mean being the awkward guy at parties directing all conversations toward politics just to bring it up. I've been that guy.

It's much easier to get people to understand your beliefs if they feel that they are talking to a well-rounded individual who is happy in their own skin.

Ah, I see. Yes. In that case I agree 100%!

How does one vacate the state?

How do you imagine one does? How would you?

I can only think of moving to Antarctica or buying a private island. It seems everything else is claimed by some nation.

That's a good point. I really dig the ideas of Agorism, etc, and try to practice them as much as I can. Disobedience is key, I think.

You're right, though, almost every square meter of this green earth is claimed by a violence-based nation-state.

I like the idea of Liberstad in Norway. They are developing a 'city' based on libertarian principles. First, they will become fully independent from the state. Then, when the people see that it is possible to live in a semi-stateless society, they will have leverage to claim autonomy from the Norwegian government.

I'm really excited about this project.

Interesting! Thanks! I'll look into this.

That makes sense.

I just think that some form of government could be useful, if not necessary, in at least these two areas:

  1. Common resources that cannot be owned, like oceans and atmosphere. Game Theory suggests that a Tragedy of the Commons would an inevitable outcome without intervention.

  2. Intellectual property. Without intellectual property laws, any inventor must also be a manufacturer, or else risk no compensation for the labor of his/her mind.

  3. Monopoly on violence. Without a judicial system, people will seek retribution on their own, which could increase violence.

The best reply I can give to these concerns is probably in the form of this video:

Also, you should google "Voluntaryism" or "Anarcho-Capitalism" and "private law society."

Either way, a monopoly on force is always immoral, as it denies some individuals their nature-conferred individual self-ownership, and affords it to agents of the state.

States that rely on non-voluntary taxation (all modern nation-states) are also morally illegitimate.

This is why, in my view, the details don't matter so much in the end, as wrong is wrong, and I don't believe in "necessary" evil.

Okay. What happens if a security firm in this video becomes a monopoly that will murder any and all competitors? That would be a situation with violence monopoly and no accountability, worse than government.

Also, let's not take terms like "crime" for granted. Without laws, mugging is not a crime.

Wrong is not wrong. There are varying degrees. It's worse to rape a baby than to litter, for example. This discussion needs nuance, or it cannot continue.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE fan of market economies, and a huge detractor of big government. We can certainly approach anarchy in an incremental way. I'm all for that, and for upholding the key value of liberty. I'm not for sudden dissolution of all government, and I'm far from convinced that we could completely obviate government.

Just don't get sleepless nights and concentrate on your work as you can't do much about it as far as Syria people are concerned they obviously don't choose this situation and they can't do much about it. World is not safe at any place not even in US.

so interesting to see what will happen, and what we will be told

Right. And so many still don't see that the two things are almost always different.

the tragedy to me is that the Western world reels in shock when a few individuals are killed, yet it is minor news when it is a distant country where hundreds are killed and it is called collateral damage. All people are precious.

Very well said. It boggles the mind.

I so wish space was a viable option for escaping away from modern society. I think the first people to reside permanently in space/Mars will be people who want to escape this shitstorm that has engulfed the world.

We are going to face political struggles which ever plan we inhabit. This is how humans mentality has always been.. Sad but true!!

But we can still make it better than earth. A lot of the problems we face today are due to the historical baggage of the past. A new society there would not have those problems. The communication delay between planets will help keep them it seperated from Earth.

Hmmm... Don't you think humans will still fight over many needs (leadership, quality of life, availability of resources) even while out there on some habitable plant? May be a socialistic approach to human life on other planets could work...

i want to move to space or other planets and stay in peace of all this

Even the forest and Islands are claimed by some tribes and animal kingdom, nothing is absolute here. Every claim or ownership is just the relative which keeps on changing throughout its life span.

There are property norms which are objectively more conducive to peaceful existence, however, and the state rejects these natural law (based on nature-conferred, individual self-ownership) norms.

And, just as an aside, "nothing is absolute" is an absolute truth claim, itself ;)
