Don't Vote

in #anarchy6 years ago

If, in the coming days, you need a short, clear, concise response to the barrage of state-worshipers who will, with shock and horror, ask you why you don't vote, feel free to use this:

I'm not stupid enough to appoint a master over myself

and I have no right to appoint a master over anyone else.

Sort:

I won't be voting, but I'll leave Thomas Woods' comments on the "don't vote" argument just for discussion:

"If I'm in a prison camp and I'm given the ability to vote on who will run the camp, why wouldn't I vote for one that violates me less?"

If the guards have been told that your votes are the source of their authority; better to deprive them of that justification.

The source of their authority is the walls around the prison. We can't vote for them to disappear.

Metaphors can only go so far. Voting is exactly what legitimises the existence of our mental prisons . In our case the source of the authority and the reason the prison is able to exist without walls is our collective belief in the legitimacy of it. For many people voting is directly the result of that belief in the need for themselves to be ruled and the voting system itself legitimises our subservience to violent authority

When I vote, if I vote, my mind is not in a prison. While I'm in this actual prison of debt, I understand the person who goes to vote against the nutcase Socialist to keep their prison less shitty.

That is an excellent response. I am going to use it from now on. Thanks!

It's appealing not just fresh!

Well most not stupid enough will give up doing it after a few tries and see that thing aren't changing for the better.

"I do vote. I just don't trust government."

spending time and money = voting
filling out a document stating your preference = giving your personal information away

I went on a rant two days ago Larken telling everyone not to vote. If you or anyone else is interested here is a link to my rant. Be advised it is rather mouthy. I'm autistic and very passionate about tearing society a new one. In fact, I'm going to be posting a rant soon charging everyone in the US with Dereliction of Duty for being the lawless abiding shitizens they are.

Do a "voting" search on Steemit. They are actually promoting it here vigorously.

So, I shouldn't vote to nullify the votes of the statists?

Federal voting, I agree with you.
Except where a libertarian is on the ballot.

Not voting on local issues is a yes vote for every tax that you don't vote no on.
Many local taxes are very close.

If people didn't vote, weed would still be a felony here, instead of a nearly free for all medical access.

When freedom is an option, vote for it.
Short of violently installing our 'new regime' voting is the only way to change things.

Voting for more of the same is the problem.

On my ballot I get to vote no on all the supreme court judges.
I get to vote out the current local judges.
I hope that breaks up the boy's club a little.

I get to vote no on all the state questions that don't include more freedom.

Not voting makes violent revolution more likely, imo.

If not voting changed things, they would make it illegal.

When we are living in anarchy, voting is how things get done without stepping on other folks' toes.
