Yes, I agree that Lucifer/Satan is, or at least was, ruler of the planet. In fact, Jesus repeatedly spoke of the devil as "the ruler of this world."
However, Jesus also announced the Kingdom of God, and by his death and resurrection declared his own ultimate rulership of that kingdom. Scripture tells me that he is now seated at the right hand of the father, ruling, and that he will rule until he brings all enemies under his feet.
