It was not freedom that made the USofA a superpower, it was military might and the and unelected military industrial complex supported by the governments ability to create money from nothing. The people allowed themselves to become slaves because they "were" comfortable and lived well off the Petrol Dollar, which has been propped up by the war machine at whatever cost.
