Ostriches are the largest living bird in the world. They are native to Africa and the only member of the genus Struthio. Ostriches are flightless birds with long necks and legs. They can run up to 70 km/h (43 mph) and can sprint in short bursts up to 97 km/h (60 mph). The ostrich is the fastest two-legged animal on land.

The ostrich is a native bird to Africa, where it has been hunted for its meat and feathers for centuries. The bird was first introduced to Europe in the early 1800s, and quickly became a popular target for hunters and collectors. The ostrich population in Africa dwindled as a result of overhunting, and by the early 1900s, the bird was considered endangered. In the 1960s, however, ostrich farming began to take off, and today, most of the world's ostrich population is found on farms.
