The myth about lemmings exists 5 centuries at the beginning of the 16th century one geographer has assumed that they are on a silver platter during a storm. Each three-four years population is on the verge of disappearance due to the lack of food, and small animals make mass migrations. At the same time they should jump from rocks in water and to float long distances that causes exhaustion and can lead to death. The myth has received the confirmation also in the documentary which has received a film award the Oscar in 1958 where the scene of mass suicide of lemmings was completely production and hasn't been removed in wildlife. Later this scene has been cut out.
