Hi guys,
Me and my buddy Teun are very happy in our home in the Netherlands. OK, our servants (who think they're our owners), make an honest mistake every now and then by giving us salmon instead of tuna fish, or trying to clip our nails (i made sure that they won't try to do that again, haha). But in general, they take good care of us.
I learned that it's not like that for all cats.
In Egypt, a lot of cats are in trouble. Most of them are not neutered or spayed, often because of religious beliefs. People tend to buy cute kittens from dodgy pet shops and then put the cats out on the street when they are a bit older. Most of these cats cannot take care of themselves outside, and often die a horrible death on the streets of Cairo or other cities in Egypt.
The good news is that there are a lot of good people there who care about these cats, they rescue them from the streets, give them food and medicine and try to get them re-adopted.
One of the biggest rescue centers in Egypt is ESMA (Egyptian Society for Mercy to Animals). They do an amazing job, and they have a lot of volunteers helping them, but they are always short of money, right now they don't even know if they can feed their cats and dogs the next few months.
