Argentine ant (1/10 inch long) is a species of social ant, widely known for its colony organization. In fact, a very similar genetic similarity among the ants, an individual ant can walk to nearby colonies without being killed for intrusion. The combination of some ant colonies is very destructive, especially if near human settlements. The problem with Argentine ants is that they are among the 100 largest animal invaders in the world, known to be the killer of competing ant species in non-native geographical areas, such as in Australia. In the above related article, scientists claim that thousands of thousands of miles of Argentine super ant colonies could form in southern Australia if the native ants of the area have the same genetic and similar behaviors.
