Hedgehogs live all around Europe, Asia and Africa and there are some different variations in the species. The European Hedgehog can be found here in Austria and I was lucky to find one last summer in the evening at a cementary in Vienna. Like many of the first mammals, they have adapted to a nocturnal way of life, and therefore it is usually very difficult to take some pictures of it since it rarely can be seen during the day. There are only very few times when I saw an hedgehog and I have to admit that I only had one oppertunity to take pictures of the hedgehog the other times it was either to dark already or I didn't have my camera with me.
