Out in the village stands a sweet shop run by the Shikada family for nine eras: Shikada Dagashi, a personal business offering traditional Japanese treat. Be that as it may, in spite of his dad's wish, Kokonotsu Shikada, a yearning manga craftsman, stubbornly declines to acquire the privately-owned business.
However, this may begin to change with the entry of the whimsical Hotaru Shidare. Hotaru is looking for Kokonotsu's dad, with the objective of taking him back to work for her family's organization, Shidare Corporation, a world popular desserts producer. Despite the fact that the senior Shikada at first cannot, he expresses that he will change his mind on one condition: if Hotaru can persuade Kokonotsu to take control over the family shop. Thus starts Hotaru's mission to enlighten the kid on the genuine delight of tasty and nostalgic dagashi!
