Yona of the Dawn Review

in #anime6 years ago (edited)

The story begins with the main character "Yona" being a pampered, sheltered princess who is completely unaware of pain and the ways of the world. But, after her father (the king) is assassinated, she becomes a rogue on the run, who with the help of her loyal bodyguard "Hak" is constantly traveling and has to fight to survive. A mysterious fortune teller called the "Oracle", tells her that it's her destiny to gather the 4 "Dragon Warriors". Each of the four dragon warriors is a powerful human who has inherited blood from one of the four great dragons of legend, thus granting them each a different, special power. Yona goes on a long, dangerous quest to gather each of these four dragon warriors as her allies. While traveling throughout the different lands, she makes friends, learns about the suffering in the world, and tries to make a difference.

It's an anime full of adventure, fights, and lots of humor! There is romance as well, but it makes the story more interesting and funny. It does not become the main point. Also, the character development is awesome! Each of the important characters has an interesting and different personality that makes the story funny and more interesting. It's amusing to see how they interact among each other and help each other as well. While the princess "Yona", may be naive, extremely innocent, and over all an airhead, she does develop courage and toughens up due to becoming a rogue. The other characters are extremely interesting, but for her it's her determination and courage that make her interesting. She learns to fight with a bow and isn't completely useless.

Yona of the Dawn is only 24 episodes and is quite amusing. I laughed a lot and always looked forward to seeing the next episode. The introduction songs at the beginning of each episode were also entertaining. I hope that a second season will be made and would recommend this anime to anyone looking for adventure and amusement. =)

Thanks for reading!
