From excitement to complete Disillusionment! /APPICS app/

in #appics2 days ago (edited)

A few years ago, when I first heard about Appics, I was genuinely excited. I immediately created an account, curious about this quite new platform that promised to blend social media with blockchain and crypto rewards. Back then, I was just starting to dip my toes into the world of Web3 and cryptocurrency... slowly, step by step, with absolutely no prior knowledge.

At the time, I was actively posting on noise.cash (❤️), and someone recommended Appics. When I joined, I was amazed. The idea behind it was brilliant - an app similar to Instagram in design and functionality, but with one major twist: it actually rewarded you for the time and effort you spent there. On top of that, the community felt unique; global yet intimate, full of kind and creative people sharing their worlds. It felt warmer, more personal and somehow more real than Instagram. Honestly, it seemed perfect.

And in the beginning, I truly loved it.

But as time went on and I became a more active user, I started noticing cracks in the system... small things at first, then much bigger ones.

The first problem was the performance. The app lagged terribly. No matter what phone I used or how strong my internet connection was, Appics would constantly freeze, fail to load or require endless refreshing just to see new posts. Still, I had patience. I enjoyed the content, food photos, lifestyle posts, nature photography, pets, travel… there were so many interesting people from different parts of the world and their beautiful posts. The atmosphere was genuinely positive and that kept me around.

Unfortunately, technical glitches were just the beginning.

Soon, I discovered what I now consider the most disappointing part, the complete lack of serious customer support. To this day, I’m not even sure it exists in any real sense. Maybe there were well-meaning, enthusiastic people behind the project, but either they didn’t have enough resources or they simply lost interest in maintaining the platform properly.

Appics operates on a system similar to others in the crypto social space. It has both a power balance (which represents your staked tokens) and a liquid balance. When you decide to "power down" your tokens, it’s supposed to take 10 weeks to convert them from APPICS Power to liquid APX.

That’s the theory.

In reality? After patiently waiting those 10 weeks, not once, but twice (!!!) — my funds simply vanished. Poof! Gone. Just like that.

The first time it happened, I had around 18k or 19k APX and the second time roughly 22,000 APX. Back then, APX was worth much more than it is today. So, no, it’s was not funny to me, it was frustrating and clearly unfair.

I tried everything. I contacted ambassadors, wrote messages, sent polite complaints and requests. They always responded with the same friendly but empty promises: "Our team is working on it", "It will be resolved soon" and so on.... But nothing ever happened. Weeks turned into months, months into years and now it’s been I think two years since that first issue, with absolutely no resolution.

The first time, I tried to forgive and move on. I told myself maybe the funds got lost in some technical unexplainable glitch. But then it happened again and that’s when I realized it wasn’t just bad luck. It was systemic neglect.

And now, to make matters worse, it’s almost impossible to even log into the app. Many users are reporting the same issue for days now and yet again - silence. No updates, no fixes, no transparency, no answers of "team" (just a few individual kind ambassadors who still haven’t given up on the app).

It’s a real shame. Appics had such a strong and inspiring concept; rewarding creativity and building a global community around positivity and shared value. But that vision has been completely overshadowed by poor management, lack of accountability and what appears to be a nonexistent support team.

I truly wanted Appics to succeed, but after all this, I can only say that it has become an example of how great ideas can fail when not backed by reliable execution and respect for users.

A good idea is never enough — without integrity, communication and consistency, even the best concepts fall apart.

Have you had the chance to try this app and what has your experience been like? I certainly hope it’s better than mine. xD

Hello!
I wasn't familiar with any of the apps you mentioned. I'm sorry if this happens due to a lack of seriousness and professionalism. Anyway, try to focus on the positive, which is that you surely met good people, and that's invaluable.
Have a lovely day!

And hear this, Roswel, what a coincidence, they just released a new version of their app, with an improved and more modern look. Ok, nice, what can I say except again, they focused on the wrong thing... customer support and technical issues with transactions are still completely ignored like before. :/

I’ll stick with HIVE, hehe. ❤️
Though I have to admit, I really miss noise.cash.

You too, friend! 🤗

Appics used to be part of Steem. I used the app back in 2017. Was good. Then they broke away from Steem and I didn’t follow

Hey! These last few months I started to get back into web3, blockchain and crypto and remembered I used to have a steem account so I came back, Appics was one of this things I wanted to use again, like you said the concept of it was super cool!

It had so much potential, I saw it in the play store and reinstalled, but I'm having issues with it. Has it completely shut down? Or just lack of support? Such a shame because it could have been a game changer!
