It's time for a new iPhone and much more besides, including the Apple Watch 4, a new iPad and three new iPhones. Here's what to expect
The Apple cart keeps rolling. A new set of iPhones is set to be announced today at an event in California. The new expensive phones are a given, but Apple may also announce updates to its iPads and Apple Watch line-up too.
Last year, the company made much of FaceID and the OLED screen of its iPhone X. This time around, a couple of high-profile leaks suggest we could be getting an iterative update called the iPhone XS.
Leaks have also suggested there may be a new iPhone, called the XR, to replace the iPhone 8. This device would be a budget version of the iPhone X. However, there are bound to be a few surprises during the event, but here’s what we’re expecting based on the reports that have emerged so far.
Apple's event takes place today (Wednesday, September 12) and begins at 10:00 PDT – that's 18:00 in the UK. The conference is taking place at the Steve Jobs Theatre, a giant 1,000 seater hall, inside the Apple Park campus, California.
The live stream of the event will be shown here from 18:00. Apple says the stream is "best experienced" using the Safari browser on one of its iOS 10 (or later) devices. It can also be watched on a PC using Windows 10 and Microsoft's Edge browser.
For the first time, Apple is also live streaming its event on Twitter. It doesn't tweet from its Twitter account – although it is followed by two million people. Instead Apple pays for tweets to be promoted into people's timelines. Its tweet about the Apple event says people will be able to watch live on the social network and updates will be sent if a Twitter account likes the sponsored tweet.
