A bit of an unusal post from me. As I write this blog I just handed in my notice with my employer. It's actually quite satisfying too! I'm sat at my desk waiting for the call....please don't leave!
Here's a quick lightpainting photo appropriate to me exiting the building!
I've worked for my employer, who shall remain nameless, for over 4 years and prior to that I was self employed. Lately I've noticed a marked difference between people who've been or are self employed and those that are employed. Employed people in the company I just resigned from seem vacuous and don't seem to care a damn about what they're doing. Whereas the self employed types are more "go get" and take ownership of everything they do.
I haven't been supported either technically or from the after sales department. If I have a technical query, I have no way of getting the information about the product I'm selling. Once I've sold the product, the after sales dept. make a complete pig's ear of the installation and I'm the one out in front of the company getting the complaints!
The service manager who has the audacity to call herself the "head of customer service" is a sociopath. I'm not even joking. Dealing with people like this is something I don't ever paid enough for!
It’s about sacrifice of personal integrity. I cannot stand in front of clients and lie about being the best thing since sliced bread and establishing a relationship with a client and then to betray that trust built up when the install goes wrong in one way or another.
In my position, I'm not on my own. I have 4 other sales colleagues and we're all in the same boat. I genuinely believe I will not be the only one amongst us to leave. Imagine a £10 million sales company without any sales people....
So that's it I left the company and I'm now waiting to see if they want me to work my notice of one month. And if they do, I may become ill.....
About me:
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to create art.

Sorry to hear that fella, but a fresh start and more control of your life may be a good thing. 😁
Cheers pal, working remotely from an office 325 miles away ain't a good idea and being treated like shite ain't either. Time to withdraw, new vehicle, happier colleagues and more dosh so it was a no brainer....
I wish you all the best.
Thanks pal, I am already in a new position so all good!
Glad to hear that.
Work inside a big company is quite always the same thing, people want you to push the limit in so many ways and when you can't do it or don't want to do it anymore they can switch employees, because they have tons of new worker that want to integrate their company, I worked in a big supermarket during 4 years and now I taste working on my own or for people that really care and it's mutch better!!! All the best
Thanks pal, I have a certain very niche and specialist skill with workshop design and they will struggle to replace 36 years worth of experience.... I've been tempted to go back to being self employed but there's a chance covid could return so I'll keep making other people richer for the time being haha!
