Aquaponics in a Collapsing Economy

in #aquaponics7 years ago (edited)

Aquaponics can be a mostly sustainable food production method. Basically you have fish water feeding plants. You can eat the fish once grown and the plants too. The plants can reproduce with seeds and the fish can reproduce. There are only a few inputs.

Inputs include: fish food, electricity for water pump and replenished water from evporation. Depending on location, you might need cooling and heating methods.

Occasionally, folks talk about rock dust or other additives. The added electric could be supplied via solar and/or wind depending.

That leaves fish food. It is possible to store up a bunch of that to provide a method for keeping the system going for extended periods.

I would recommend more traditional stocking of food stuffs too. Stocked foods just don't work that well with out some fresh food intake.

Time to learn about aquaponics friends.
