It is a service of dafty and v2 is not launched yet. Lauch of v2 should be announced next week. Dafty is preparing his explorer for the next version.

The Ark coins are stored on the blockchain. You need an explorer or a wallet to see your account and your balance. If you want to look at other accounts then it is more practical to use an exlorer rather than the wallet.
