Another large canvas, painted after "Lilies" from my post yesterday. This time, I worked directly on the white linen canvas, i.e., no initial turpentine wash over the entire area. Instead, I just used some thinned paint to indicate where everything would go, then dove right into laying on the paint with large brushes and a painting knife.
Having reached the point where I felt I captured the effect of light I was after, I stopped, leaving white canvas untouched on the right and bottom and indications of the sword-shaped leaves.
I hope you enjoy seeing this painting.
