Two specimens of pyroxene can be seen here, which is also referred to as an independent group of minerals, which also belong to the class of germanates and silicates and there specifically to chain silicates. What makes the group particularly interesting is the diverse occurrence as well as numerous different chemical compositions and the name can be traced back to the two Greek words pyros for fire and xenos for foreigner, which can be traced back to the volcanic formation where it is found in lava which crystalise during the eruption. The name can be traced back to the French mineralogist René-Just Haüy (1743 - 1822) and it is assumed that it had already been used in ancient times and there are some traces that it was already used by the ancient Egyptians. You can even find traces of the Pyroxene group in meteorites or on the Mars, which can indicate that the formation can also be attributed to volcanic activity there and because of the numerous variations, it is particularly interesting for research purposes. You can usually find it together with other magmatic rocks and it is very different from the shape or size of the crystals and it can be found pretty much everywhere in the world. Because of the hardness, it can also sometimes be interesting for processing jewellery or other objects and here it always depends entirely on the specimen of the group and some are even used for the production of blades or decorative items and it also enjoys great popularity in the circles of collectors.
