Hey dear community, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my new post and hope you have a great day! In this article I would like to go into a fascinating topic and am happy if you can expand your knowledge.

I have often visited different opera performances in the past and also took a look behind the scenes to learn more about the history and art, which is why I decided to share more about this interesting topic. Even if the opera is nowadays spread across the world, important origins are in Europe where it originated during the early Baroque period in Italy to bring the old art of music to a whole new life and from Florence as a kind of center, it has also enjoyed more and more popularity in other countries. The first performances were not yet uniform or so well structured and it can be said that it was a mixture of different forms of art such as music, dance, theater or others and with further distribution it became clearer and more organized. At that time it quickly developed into a form of art which became more and more popular in royal houses and at the same time the growing spread also led to the fact that it should reach the citizens more and more and many artists began to find themselves in the opera world.

During this time it also happened that the European opera had gained international acceptance and so during the 17th century it also came to China by missionaries where this form was initially still very unknown and the people had strong fears of contact. It must be mentioned that the opera also developed in China like Beijing Opera, but independently of European culture and here there was no contact with Europe before during its creation and and is a legacy of pure Chinese culture with other influences. During the 20th century, Western opera has gained more and more acceptance in China and there was a fusion of culture and even though it was already in land before, it was very unknown and only known in smaller circles and more interaction began at that time. Back to Europe where during the Baroque period the opera was still strongly influenced by various art movements as well as themes of antiquity or mythology and during the time of Classicism between the 18th and 19th centuries this should change and more light was brought into the darkness and the performances were much better to understand and the art became more and more emotional

During the time of Romanticism, the opera was already so widespread that every country began to integrate its own culture and more different directions at local levels were created and in part this period was also characterized by more dramatic and diverse pieces. With the beginning of modern times, the opera was also adapted and people began to address more contemporary topics and generally to distance from mythological themes and roughly it can be said that the performances have become much more realistic and completely new forms of expression have been shown. Nowadays the performances are still partly shaped by old times but of course the whole technology as well as theme of the performances changed and also other forms of art such as music have become more modern and if you have never been to the opera yourself, have definitely missed something and I can only recommend it to everyone. It's especially interesting to take a look behind the scenes and what often looks like a simple performance is often more complex than expected and there are often hundreds of people behind the scenes to organize a performance.

Fascinating history of opera, something I can honestly say I know very little about... Even though my ex mother in law is an opera singer! lol

Interesting how it developed in the east and west independently then underwent fusion once China opened up to the outside world once again. Excellent post and such wonderful pictures you included in there as well from your travels. Great post!

How many times have you been to performances of her? I’m glad to hear that you like my post :)

This was the first wife from many long years ago, college mistake! I might have seen one to two, but it's been so many years I really don't recall!

It's a very own and amazing experience :) I think it is also amazing to see that so many different styles of the opera have arisen.

Wow this is actually so much of knowledge and information for me to digest here if you will ask me

Thank you so much for your feedback :)

I have never been at the opera! I guess with today technology it's harder to attract crowd like 100-200 years ago!

Oh really, then you’ve definitely missed something so far! You should make this experience and watch a show :)

I have never been to the opera, I have seen some movies in which these beautiful scenarios appear, but to be honest I prefer another type of music, in fact I love to dance, but I understand what you want to explain in the post
