My little flat doesn't have air con, but I don’t really need it living in the UK. Having said that, it has been warm/hot for several months now. I've had to dig my electric fan out. I'm lucky because I like some white noise to help me sleep. I won't entertain a ticking clock in the bedroom, though.

By sheer necessity I found I can actually sleep with blasting loud AC and a ceiling fan. I never thought I would be able to. But the coolness made it possible. The white noise does block out random sudden noise. A clock would bug me tick tick ticking. I was surprised that the steady sound is far less bothersome than intermittent noises...
