Hello Everyone!!!
Have you ever wondered how some drawings with an entirely perfect black background were made??
Do you know what negative drawing means?? .
Negative drawing is just simply drawing with a white medium on a black paper or card. There's only one popular tool behind that which is the white charcoal pencil. The white charcoal is generally made by carbonizing wood at a low temperature and then, close to the end of the process, the temperature of the furnace is raised to around 1000°C to make the wood red hot.

To be able to make use of this pencil successfully, one needs to be skilled and must have practiced countless times. The drawing simple involves using white medium on a black or dark paper unlike normal drawing which requires dark medium on a white or bright paper. Here are some drawings by some artists that show how the results would look like.

I used to love working on colored papers, especially for negative drawings. These days, it's all I can do to keep a bum-standard sketchbook on hand.
Art's expensive y'all…
I haven't worked on a negative drawing for a while, but hopefully very soon. And I agree, art is really expensive..lol
