Hi everyone! It has been three (3) days since I made an update. Like what I was saying, I had been so busy with work. Maybe in time, when I have moved from the Adjustment Phase , I will be able to have more time to write and share stories with you. There are tons of things I need to learn in the office. And I guess we, the new ones, needed to be oriented of almost everything because the system for us in our division is really new.
As for now, I will just do my best to spare some time in writing.
I decided to paint like weeks ago. Glad I had a spare time when I was processing a lot of my documents, and still there are few left that I need to work on to.
I got to revisit one of my watercolor pads and I got to see this page that I hated the most. I really was not in the mood to paint at that moment when I was working on this one. I was using watercolor and then after ten minutes of random strokes, I decided that at that moment, my mood was not fit to create something nice or even something that is just clever.
I then decided to work on this page using my gouache paints. I told myself, perhaps I might be able to come up with something nice.
Honestly, I felt that the sparks of my creativity were gone that I just lurked over Facebook on what to make. And then I stumbled on this certain photo, I guess she is an indian lady covered with veil. Correct me if I am wrong with that.
As you can see, the first layer was covered with the basic shapes needed to create the face. It really took more than one layer to fully cover the original paint because I used a lot of dark colors for the original "artwork".
Then I decided to add shadows particularly on the neck region. I also painted her clothe (top) preliminarily.
After few strokes, I tried giving highlights to some key areas on the person's face.
I added pink for her cheeks, but later on it would be covered with different tones of brown so that somehow it would look realistic.
For her "golden headdress", I used a yellow goauche paint. It took a couple of layers for me to make it very visible as the color of veil or base used is dark blue. I also wanted to use the Disney's approach in painting their heroine. As you can see, I made the eyes pop like Merida of Brave .
Now things are getting more complicated here. I was trying my best to structure her headdress. If you will notice, I used the colors yellow ochre and bright yellow to make it seem realistic. I also added her dangling earrings.
For her eyes, I added some minor details using a smaller round brush. To color the eyelashes, it is not necessary to use the color black as that color might cause problems later in our process.
Other shades of brown and peach were also used to refine her facial features.
At some point, I committed a mistake by adding the white gouache paint because I thought it would define the face of our subject. Apparently, it did not.
But I always tell myself to trust the process, so I held on to it and continued painting. I used the gold poster color then to refine the headdress.
And finally, I am done. Yehey! I hope you like and learned something from today's art process. Have a great day ahead!
Love,
Gail

Very inspiring to see the creative process in action. This process is somewhat different from each artist yet there's something that happens to each artwork, that moment you know that the work is done. Have a !PIZZA. :)
