''Work Process'': Art & Self-Love

in #art6 years ago

Hello beautiful people!

We're in February and I'm back with a new idea for an article! I apologize if I can't post much, because I only have access to Steemit one week on two. I'll try to figure out a system so I can hopefully maximise the amount of article I publish on this plateform. So, today, I will talk about a subject that I already mention in my second post... Drowning in the Souvenir, the Comeback! That artwork was the one I was really disapointed in and even though I'm still not fully satisfied, I will not criticize that one. The main subject of this article would be to show you my ''work process''. Shall we start?

First, here's the final result!

(I finally called her Aiko because it's a a charactere that show up a lot in my paintings and all)

For those who don't remember about the first one, here it is!

Now, I can show you how I made this!

Step 1: I always begin with a quick draft. Probably because I'm only a beginner and I don't have the ability to paint something on the go yet. So I made my idea that I finally wanted to have one eye to be shown, a less puffy haircut and a more doll-like appearance than a dead corpse. I had a specific mindset and I never get out of my track.

Step 2: Than, since I draw it really light, I re-draw every line a lot darker so it will me with the next step.

Step 3: I don't know how this paper is called (If you know , please tell me because it's my life saver!) but it helps you reproduct your drawing a lot faster on the final watercolor paper. The paper is really thin and transparent, so it helps a lot to trace it. BUT! The only thing, is that it makes your drawing in the opposite side, just like a mirror, so be prepared!

Step 4: Final step... Watercolor! I won't talk much about it, because you just have to paint with your feelings, but I can give you some advices...

1- Take your time, do not rush your work because you want it to be done fast. I believe that creating something is really great for the mental health and if you take it as a task or a job,it would lessen the therapeuthic effects and probably makes you really discouraged about your art.

2- Sit by a window, with natural light, because natural light can really show you how the colors looks on your painting. However, if you prefer to paint or draw with only the light of a candle, it' your art, so do as you want!

3- If you like to put some music on (Like me) while painting, I strongly agree because music only helps me to show more of my feelings and it can be seen in my artwork. But, if the smallest sound distract you or that music can change your mood really quickly, I recommend you to put some earphone without any sound. So, you could block the surrounding noises and truly focus.

In conclusion, I think that even if I called it my ''work process'' I do not consider art as a job. I'm totally relax while doing this and I absolutely feel better after the watercolor dried to make place for the final result. A youtube channel that I really love, Lavendaire, called that type of artistic session a ''Self-date'' or an ''Artist rendezvous'' and I really love that term. It's not only having a passion, loving to create or whatever... It's before all a love story with your true self, because that's where art come from: From you and only you!

Take care of you, have a nice and share the love♥
