Hyperdrive is the fourth and final piece in this series of digital artworks based on concepts color experience originating in my previous work with paintings on the traditional art side.
Visually the series an exploration of an abstract, cyberpunk inspired aesthetic, that is influenced by glitch- and generative art. Though these works are created manually in MS Paint by drawing and transforming the output in a repeating process. My approach is to use color with the drawing to create an immersive platform for contemplation.
Each of these works have some commentary based on the feel of crypto and NFT space and the markets.
Hyperdrive also going by other names, is one of the iconic and crucial elements in many of space-faring science fiction, especially in my favourite Star Wars that i often refer to in my art. The ability to travel faster than light is a fascinating idea on its own and in its utility, making the great intergalactic distances no longer a barrier. The moon is the primary destination in the minds of many with hopes of the prices going up and every one getting rich. Perhaps there is a feeling of an optimism associated with it that goes a little further than that, with the progress and adaptation of the technology; A metaphorical jump to escape the grasp of the evil empire towards a techno-cultural revolution. While I find the blockchain and its possibilities inspiring, I tend to think that technology is ultimately neutral. What will be on the other side this jump will be a mystery but one that everyone contributes towards to.
