Perfecting Pensorship

in #art6 years ago

The images contained are not quite NSFW. However, they do have an explicit nature and would like to inform you before viewing that the purpose of this post is artistic. If you have any issues with the art contained, please let me know and I would love to hear your opinion. It is, after all, the purpose of the piece.

Introducing Pensorship

This was originally a sketch, that I just doodled. It didn't even have it's own page. It was on a piece of my sketchpad that had other drawings and I sort of just jotted it down. The legs, being pulled up and apart left the middle section viewable and I drew a crude labia in the original image. I didn't like it because of that. So, I walked away from the piece and put the paper on a shelf in my home, setting the pencil on top of it.

I didnt do it on purpose, not in the slightest. But the pencil rolled or something and my boyfriend walked down the hall and shouted out, "Nice drawing!" as he laughed. He mentioned that the pencil was placed perfectly. I wasn't sure what he was talking about and went out to look and I saw it sitting like this. I was like perfect, unintentional censorship.

_Thus, Pensorship was born."

Mixed Reviews

I have heard a number of responses and began to play with the image. I have come up with different ways to present it but am not quite finished with the process.

For the time being, I simply wanted to share and get some more feedback.

Care to Voice Your Opinion?
I am looking for a few people to answer the following questions:

  • Is this drawing considered NSFW (not safe for work) in your opinion?
  • Do you like this drawing or no?
  • Extra thoughts: What do you like about it? What do you dislike?
  • Do you feel this is tasteful or no?
  • Is this art or pornography?
  • Is there anything that could be added or taken away that you can think of that would change your opinion?

I am working on a project to challenge perceptions of art and pornography but do not seek to intentionally or irrationally make anyone uncomfortable. Because of this, I am using a limited scope to attain information from people about the project.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, I would love for you to share it on social media or with friends for their commentary. Please let me know if you do share and what medium you shared though, so I can try to keep track.

Thank you!
