I finished my last painting: a portrait (11 pics)

in #art6 years ago

I showed already some steps of this painting. It is a fantastic portrait of the italian writer Ermanno Cavazzoni. I met Cavazzoni at his last book-signing a week ago. But I'm not going to talk about him. I'll talk about this painting and the technique I used.

I did this painting using mostly tempera on a raw cotton canvas. I used also colored pastels and charcoal - which I fixed later with a spray.

Here are the steps of the work in a short video:

And this is the final result:

The composition is very simple: the figure of the portrayed man, with a slight transparence and some clouds around the body; little floating figures around him; a bare countryside landscape.

Here are some details:

The texture of the canvas is coarse and visible, as you can see:

Probably I will donate this portrait to the portrayed subject, Cavazzoni. Maybe.

Impressive! It is really beautiful what you do, the expression of those eyes you have been magnificent < 3 really adore this work:D

I don't know what it is about this painting, whether it's your style, or the textures and marks you've made, but i like it a lot. I'm not familiar with this writer - are the objects in the painting a reference to his writings @paolobeneforti?

yes, figures and things around him are subjects of his novels. you can find some translations to English of Cavazzoni's books.

Great, I'll take a look when i get the chance. Thank you!

Davvero bellissimo! E poi sei riuscito a tirare fuori la sua anima!!!! Bello bello! Leggero.... e i colori sono molto piacevoli

A nice art piece, I use to be an artist but I lost passion along the line, but it never stops me from appreciating a good work of art if I see one. Kudos.

Good work!

I like the way you can see the landscape
through the body, beautifull

You picked interest in a man and his works. He must strike you as someone who knows his work very well. Your representation of him through painting makes it even easier for my research on him - so that's a double for you by my standards ( two birds with one stone )

  1. Amazing painting
  2. Relevant information
    Great job.

Beautiful work!!
I am glad I discovered it. I am following you now. :)

Excellent work you have done on this and the simple details are so amazing

Very look like portrait on the original. Bravo! Creative you success and new achievements!

The transparency is amazing - I've never seen that in a painting before.
