"...except if you're in decentralized art DAO economies, then widening the market in mutual benefit game theory is probably the best path forward -- that and realizing that in order for other people to compete with you, they'll have to have invested the same amount of work or more as yourself, so you'll probably still have a competitive edge due to first mover advantage, even if your proposed system is compelling and functional enough to be replicated or even turned into a new market norm -- which let's face it, probably won't happen."

  • Sun Tzuish.

Background Analysis: [value propositions]

BAE

  • Upload Size is huge
  • Probably around 3rd in NFT Market in terms of native collector traffic
  • Target product is 1/1 rares.
  • 10% Secondary Market Distributed through DAO
  • DAO
  • Around 20% fees to gallery and payments.
  • Sascha is active on Twitter, and offers some curation assistance.
  • Accepts NSFW artwork, thank you Sascha.

Makersplace

  • Ghost bans NSFW art. I have an account, but as far as I'm aware my shop is buried and entirely dependent on personal traffic, and my fees are the same as everyone else, who enjoys native collector traffic on the platform.
  • 20% fees
  • Second Largest in NFT Market in terms of native collector traffic
  • Target product is 1/1 rares
  • Significant upload size allows for mp4 NFTs with video / audio components, these command higher prices and straight visual high rez.
  • Created really cool thematic art challenges, similar to #inktober -- these were called Series 7, and were basically 7 paintings in a row within a certain theme, which were all sold on makersplace as a set / collection. Strong move.
  • Unsure about secondary market royalties.

Superrare

  • Top dog in terms of native collector traffic.
  • Unsure about secondary market royalties.
  • Around 100 MB upload size limit -- which is causing people to migrate to Makersplace for more high quality NFT creation with more audio / video options. -- This is because audio / video 1/1s can go for minimum of .5 ETH, compared to an average of .1 to .2 eth for 1/1 high rez images.
  • Unknown about NSFW art - they have not accepted me.

KnownOrigin.io

  • I'd guess around 4th place in terms of native collector traffic
  • 10% secondary market royalties for artists.
  • Unknown about NSFW art - they have not accepted me.

Memefactory

  • Token curated registry is a unique democratic / decentralized approach, and ideologically the strengths and focuses on DAOs are top job.
  • 0% fees at the moment.
  • Can Create high # of web rez NFTs at the same time.
  • Accepts NSFW.
  • Tentative unique advantages would be a link to ETHLance, also a lot of time invested with Aragon DAOs

Mintable

  • Can create high # of NFTs at same time.

Opensea

  • Can sell bundles
  • Can sell individuals
  • Can set price or auction
  • Can self-determine secondary market royalties
  • Shadowbans NSFW artwork, requiring you to drive all of your own traffic
  • Fees for platform are only 2.5%
  • Does not display mp4 / audio-visual NFTs [that I'm aware]
  • Not sure what total upload size capacities are
  • You can set your prices for shops in ERC 20s -- Pretty sure, because Skeenee's work is in $SKULL. It would be awesome if you could set your prices in $HIVE as well.

.:.

Colony.io

  • No code needed for DAO structures
  • Can handle multiple sub-domains for partitioned guild banks.
  • Super easy Multi-sig Solution for art collaboration.
  • Can hook up: [Cryptovoxels]->[Opensea Shop]->[Colony.io] and have individual control on the Opensea shop level, which allows for multiple shops / multiple users to all be channeled into the same DAO fund.
  • Awesome Challenge based Level quests.

Coinbase Commerce / Shopify

  • 90 day free shopify during covid
  • Coinbase Commerce plugin allows sales of digital or physical goods for common cryptocurrencies.
  • Greater possibility for use of NSFW goods-- even though shopify is still iffy in some areas with that. Shopify doesn't allow pornography -- but pornography is often interpreted as photo / video -- and not artistic representation / comics.

Cryptovoxels:

  • Basically a gallery collective platform
  • expensive to join, but seems high potential once you are operating.
  • Co-op + Art Network Friendly.
  • Can use as gallery / streaming platform / party space / theatre, etc.
  • Links to gallery platforms for sales.
  • TECHNICALLY only allows Non-Pornographic Nudity on Origin City. Seems likely that violating these rules in a brazen manner may result in hosted files being blocked from appearing in gallery. Conversations are being had with @devil about where NSFW artwork might be allowed without restriction on CV, or what workarounds might be possible. No firm answers yet.

Bonus:

Rarible:

  • Apparently you can link external files to NFTs?

Async:

  • PSD Layers Based Collab NFT Platform.

.:.

HIVE:

  • Staked HIVE increases Curation Rewards, and allows you to attract audience members onto HIVE and reward their comments with upvote rewards, which increases engagement in comparison to all major platforms.
  • HIVE rewards for posts, incentivize development blogs and sharing of artwork, but does not sufficiently monetize art in and of itself -- therefore must be efficiently stacked as one income stream along with NFT Galleries or Self Publishing or Kickstarter / Patreon / Onlyfans.
  • Communities are active as fuck, and down to collaborate.
  • NSFW content is considered a valid form of artistic expression. No weird glances from anyone.
  • Also a blogging platform, with multitude of different communities / interests.
  • Fundamentally strong Developer community with DPOS Governance and Platform wide developer fund.
  • Actively supportive community in the face of adversity.
  • 3 speak online video hosting platform.
  • Front End PEAKD is pretty and functional.
  • PAL communities have MSPWaves which is a great radio show.
  • Communities are all discord fluent and actively involved in creating projects and art and radio shows and music videos and blogs, and such.

.:.

So, the plan:
I bought a collection of CV land parcels, and set up a Colony DAO.

AlienHoneyKingdom.png

Then I spread out ownership of those Parcels amongst a small collaborative group of moderators. Since then, the parcels have been in development and preparation for a premiere show.

The pink areas are places that we own. The blue areas are places that we ought to own, if the project is viable. No other spots in that immediate area are for sale right now, but there are some more open spots in the proximity.

Idea is to make the properties we have a fluid large scale gallery space, that is coordinated for project based shows.

For example, my graphic novel, which is going to be around 107 pages of unique 1/1 NFTs will be able to be displayed in some format -- as a collection for auction, throughout those properties.

In addition to this, we have two active art communities here on HIVE that are involved in the project:

  • Alien Art HIVE
  • Onchainart
    Both have strong curation backing for reward pool distribution, and both have talented, regularly producing artists.

Some of the artists are already involved in NFT work, and some are not.

I see these artists as a pool of potential candidates for participation within the gallery schedule, as a reward for executing project challenges.

The function of this will be as follows:

  • divert 5%-10% of sales funds to alienhoney.org -- the Colony DAO.
  • Help those people raise funds to purchase their own gallery spaces
  • Train them on how to organize their own project based shows, and drive traffic to them.
  • Allow another avenue of monetization in ETH in addition to the monetization they receive by posting to HIVE
  • To increase the skill sets and fortitude of artists within those HIVE communities - which in turn, increases the resilience of the HIVE platform.

.:.

Each artist who organizes a show there will be able to decide where they want to upload and sell their artwork, and it will change depending on what can be accessed by each artist on whatever platforms are listed at the top of the article.

I personally plan on a two pronged approach:

  • I'd like to create a single 1/1 for each platform above, and give them each an opportunity to demonstrate to me the unique value of their native collector traffic.

If this works, and they manage to produce sales, then wonderful.
If it doesn't work, and they do not produce sales, then that's fine too.

This will be taking place during the time when I am auctioning off the 100+ page 1/1 collection for my graphic novel using a bundle / 3-7 day auction on Opensea.

The collector income flows for galleries go [BAE / Superrare / Makersplace / KnownOrigin -- This would be the bait collections and rare fliers] -> [Cryptovoxels -- This would be the primary collections] -> [Opensea -- This would be the lowest rate platform with Bundled Auctions] -> [Colony.io - This would be the Multi-sig address and transparent guild bank, which funds the purchase of more properties for alienhoney.art]

  • I'm aware that sharing my desire to buy that land from Whaleshark Pro is a bad business move, as well as sharing my intentions to use the native collector traffic from [BAE / Superrare / Makersplace / Knownorigin] as bait to direct traffic to an area of greater economic value to myself is something that I shouldn't be broadcasting publicly -- but how will we grow unless we talk about these things?

The difference in question is basically:

Is the 20% taken by [BAE / Superrare / Makersplace] worth the amount of native traffic that is gained from posting on their platforms?

OR

Can traffic be directed to a cryptovoxels gallery while using opensea, and derive a similar or superior outcome with 17.5% less of a cut taken out of the entire collection.

Let's get romantic and dreamy for a moment, and imagine the value of a 100 page graphic novel art collection sold at .1 per page to be 10 ETH. It's a bit underpriced, but the question is basically, is it worth 1.75 ETH to move those collections on BAE?

And can BAE even handle 100 1/1 NFT pages in one auction collection at the moment?

I would argue, not as easily as I can do it myself on Opensea -- with the exception of the unknown amount of native traffic on BAE / Superrare / Makersplace.

And that being said, Makersplace ghostbans me and charges 15% for using the platform -- transaction fees are currently waived. Which means I would need to direct all of my own traffic to the platform AND give them 15%.

So the next natural question is -- WHAT IF I was able to make each page of my comic high resolution GIFs with limited animation.

I could do that on Opensea as well, though I'm not sure what the upper limits are for the size.

[Note To Self -- Ask Dan what upper limits on size are for Opensea]

I might be able to pull .2 ETH per page for the whole collection. Which would be enough to recover the 18 ETH seed investment for the AlienHoney.art parcels.

.:.

The ultimate would be designing a graphic novel on HIVE from the ground up that is released in chapters as sequences of limited animated scenes with audio components which are then ported into graphic novel format on Kickstarter after release is completed.

Structure:

[HIVE CHOYA Comic]->[Cryptovoxels]->[Opensea]->[Colony]
[HIVE CHOYA Comic]->[Patreon]
[HIVE CHOYA Comic]->[Kickstarter]
[Kickstarter]->[Print Run]->[Patreon]|[Shopify]
[Kickstarter]->[Print Run]->[Cryptovoxels]->[Shopify - Coinbase Commerce]->[Colony]
[Kickstarter]->[Print Run]->[HIVE]

So, this is what I'll try to do next.

.:.
Traffic Solutions:

Without going into too much details here, cause I'm getting tired of typing:

[Crypto Reddit][Crypto Twitter]->[Cryptovoxels]
[BAE]|[Makersplace]|[Knownorigin]|[Superrare] (1/1 Promotional Flyers for Show) -> [Cryptovoxels]
[Previous Collectors] -> [Cryptovoxels]
[HIVE] -> [Cryptovoxels]
[Cent / Creary] -> [Cryptovoxels]

Non Crypto -> [Cryptovoxels]:
[Patreon]
[Kickstarter]
[Online Art Galleries]
[NonCrypto Reddit]
[Online Social Media Art Platforms]

.:.

Other useful Notes:

Would be useful to have giveaway NFT.
Would be useful to have conciliatory NFT for people who don't win auctions as thank you for participating.

.:.

Here's what I think would be cool:

  • I think it would be cool to train and recruit people to join HIVE and train them to make project based gallery collections, and promote them.
  • I think it would be cool to be able to mint 250MB Mp4 NFTs and sell them on Opensea. Specifically

[Cryptovoxels Gallery] -> [Opensea]

  • Once this base layer of financial fluency is attained by artists, it would be cool to move into greater experimental work with interconnected galleries, or anthology projects with multiple artists etc.
Sort:

great share... now I understood you can type 120 wpm, u have a multithreaded brain, you are an artist with a sense of humor and you have only 18 hours per day, that's not enough you need 24 hrs and I don't have much knowledge about these except Hive(little), heard about Creary and superrare through Alien Art hive.

Wow, great info and really cool idea. I think. I’m not really sure because I’ve never dipped my toes into the NFT sea. I’m super interested in learning though, currently my work consists of music videos, so it sounds like makersplace and maybe shopify would be the best bets for me to get started? Besides hive of course. Been here for a while.

Love your work by the way =)

Great info. Thanks!
Reblogging.

Edit: In which of the marketplaces were you able to sell more of your works, or had more people interested in them?

I'm not experienced in the marketplaces!

I've only ever sold work in Memefactory and opensea, and I've been invited to share work on BAE.

Most of my work has been done on Patreon and Kickstarter.

I just saw an opportunity here with Cryptovoxels, and project based NFTs, cause I'm basically into the 3rd quarter of my graphic novel project, and I wanted to set up a gallery co-op to support / surround my graphic novel in NFT format, because my graphic novel projects will only be ready to ship like twice a year, or quarterly or something like that -- depending on how frequently I release chapters or how I break things down.

Point being, they need some kind of NFT outlet, so I'm making that happen.

The actual outcomes, I'm really not sure what one is best.

Julia is having a lot of success right now, you ought to ask her, or skeenee, or blackboxart, or xcopy -- just look on twitter, and you'll see the names that are common, and then ask them questions.

Thanks a lot for the detailed answer. I have a lot of research to do now!

Wow! Excellent detail and analysis. I have some experience with MakersPlace, and do realize that they get their cut when something sells. But I've also had actual paintings in physical galleries, and not only did I have production costs, fuel costs driving the paintings an hour north to the gallery, AND the gallery owner took 50 PERCENT of every sale!!! On the plus side, the gallery had a charismatic owner who succeeded in SELLING the work I brought to her for sometimes TEN TIMES the price that I would get selling the work in my lawn.

I sell paintings off of blankets in my front lawn during the summer months for $10 or $20 each. The gallery sold my paintings for $100 or $200 EACH! (One sold for $300.00 cash. I made half of that price, but my cut was still $150.00 for ONE painting that, on my own, I would have been lucky to get $30 to $50 for!

What I'm getting at is that REPUTATION counts. I love your plan and feel it can succeed, with a substantial effort and focus, because a reputation CAN BE BUILT with some serious HUSTLING!

If we (should I be allowed to play, too) can get interesting artists making interesting art, get chroniclers and storytellers to spread the word about (and the IMAGERY of) the project, and can attack on multiple fronts (Hive, Twitter, Ello, Cent, PublishOx, Instagram, WordPress, Faceboot, Tumblr, Medium...), and use video interviews ABOUT the project, LIVE get-togethers for "openings," record podcasts talking about concepts, art styles, how-tos, history of the medium for outsiders and newbies, etc., to inspire artists, collectors, spectators, journalists, and curiosity seekers to check the project out and, perhaps, join in. (All of this should be FUN, exciting, creativily portrayed, and slanted as a UNIQUE ARTISTIC ENVIRONMENT.)

This is how movements work and grow: Dada, punk, Fluxus, rave culture, and so on...)

Exciting stuff! I enjoy many of these activities and would happily and with great enthusiasm love to extend my services!

Richard,

I've shared this with people, so that they can extrapolate from the information, and develop their own paths.

You need to be responsible for your own work, and making your own projects happen.

I don't need your services -- I am just sharing information so that people can take the information and apply it to their own work, and in doing so, might be able to improve their art careers and business skills.

It sounds like you ought to pursue your relationship with that gallery.

Thanks for saying hello.

Interesting. The gallery closed, so further relationship would be difficult. And, frankly, I am already responsible for my own work and have followed my own career path, but I am also a fan of collaboration and thought I sensed in your presentation of your research the possibility for a community based effort which might have been entertaining to be involved in. If this is not the case, no problem. I have plenty of irons in numerous fires to keep myself busy.

If your gallery went out of business, but a gallery will sell your work for 300, and you only get 30 on your lawn, then I would recommend trying greeting cards to sell in shops, or shop galleries, or children's book publication, or if you're particularly passionate about someone or some project, then I would recommend directing your work toward that thing.

This could be a non-profit charity, or an educational event for children, or mental health support groups.

Thanks for replying.

I'm not interested in collaborating with you right now, and my opinions might not be that useful for you, but they are there if you would to make use of them.
