Sketchbook ! Drawing of J.R.R Tolkien's Smaug attack on Lake Town [ Esgaroth ]

Smaug is my favorite character of J. R. R. Tolkien's 1937 novel The Hobbit. He is a powerful, fearsome dragon who invaded the Dwarf kingdom of Erebor. In the novel 13 dwarves 1 hobbit and a Wizard - Gandalf the Grey - goes on a quest to slay a dragon and reclaim a homeland full of gold. What an adventure! But smaug is a character with high intelligence , you can't easily hide secrets from him. He is powerful in both air and land. He is not just a brutal force as other dragons are ( like drogon in the game of thrones) Smaug has some character that gives him more power.

Again we can see that smaug's attack on Esgaroth is mainly because he want bilbo to suffer from death of lake town people. He knows that killing bilbo isn't the most effective method to give him pain. Smaug goes after lake town to show them he is capable of emotionally hurt you.

First Step - Drawing outlines with pencil

I start with pencil drawing as always to avoid doing mistakes that i can not correct if i use ink pen. After i am confident with the sketch, i draw the sketch with 0,05 ink pen.

Second Step - Shadowing and details

I continue drawing more detail and give some shadow to the houses and other object. It is good to use thinker pen for overlaping houses and think pen for edges.
