Getting paid three times for the same work is the only way to have a sustainable living as a freelance artist.
Good thing you weren't on Narrative XD (or were you?) They called this kind of thing "second hand content" and marked it as plagiarism and otherwise unworthy of being rewarded in I can't even remember what the Narrative tokens were called x_x
Writing takes everything I have, from imagination, to creativity, to discipline to make myself sit in that damn chair.
Doing comics doesn't take that kind of effort? o_O
