Remembering lost art

in #art2 months ago

When our town burnt down in 2020 our home was filled with my artwork. I was lucky to have left a few pieces at my folk's house and even sold a few pieces before it happened. A few of the lost pieces were my personal favorites.

Loki - White and Black Prismacolor pencil on toned paper

Loki was the first "Crayon pencil" portrait I ever tried, and I LOVED IT. I was taking an Introduction to Illustration class at Macomb Community College South Campus in Michigan. Had amazing instructors there.

Smoke Spirit - Acrylic on Canvas

This was a 6ft by 2 ft Stretched canvas. I loved every part of this painting when I finished it. I was already in talks of selling it for over $400. Even then, I debated asking even more because I really wanted to keep it. Took me about 20 hours? The way the smoke looks from a bonfire at sunset and as the fire starts to cast shadows around it makes me feel all fuzzy inside. This was as close as I could get to portraying the feeling.
