When people talk about Greek mythology, a series of gods always come to mind, and characters we all know, either because of movies or because we have lost ourselves in a book of Greek mythology. Among the best known characters, this is obviously Zeus, then Poseidon, Hera (Wife of Zeus), Hades (God of Hell-son of Zeus),Aphrodite , and Blah Blah could name them all, but one of the characters that has most Embodied fear in Greek mythology is; Medusa, if that woman with hair in the form of snakes, or snakes instead of hair.

But almost no one speaks of Perseus (One of the fruits of Zeus' infidelities). This Hero who defeated Medusa, and that's why I mentioned it above.

Pero casi nadie habla de Perseo(Uno de los frutos de las infidelidades de Zeus).Este Heroe que derroto a Medusa, y justo por eso la mencione arriba.

"The Head of Perseus"

First, who was Perseus? He was a demigod, he was the son of Zeus and the mortal Danae.

Acrisio, king of Argos and father of Dánae, had locked her in a bronze tower to prevent her from conceiving a child, since an oracle had assured her that her grandson would kill him. Zeus, who wanted Danae, refused to leave this punishment like that. He visited Dánae in the form of a rain of gold, from which Perseus was born.

Acrisio, surprised, locked the mother and son in a box and threw them into the sea, but thanks to the protection of Zeus, the box came safely to the island of Sérifos, where Dánae and her son were welcomed by King Dictis , brother of King Polidectes de Sérifos. Perseus grew up with his mother and the king, but Polidectes fell in love with Danae and decided to get rid of the boy, who was already taking care of his mother. For that reason he commissioned him to bring Medusa's head, something impossible given the appearance of the monster, which turned into a stone who dared to look at her.

Fortunately, Perseus had the help of Athena, who was antagonized by Medusa because of her relations with Poseidon - who had perhaps violated her - in a sanctuary dedicated to Athena. The goddess gave Perseus a bronze mirror so burnished that it reflected everything he saw and told him what he had to do. First I should visit the Gorgons, three sisters who lived in North Africa - two according to some versions - and who were witches who shared only one eye. Perseus stole their eyes and forced them to show him the way to get to Medusa, which they accepted in exchange for the eye, which he finally threw into the water so that they could not warn anyone of their intentions. Some nymphs gave Perseus a helmet that made him invisible, a pair of winged sandals and a sack in which to put Medusa's head when he had caught her. Hermes handed him a magic saber.

With the help of all the gifts, Perseus flew to the home of the other gorgons by the Ocean. The three sisters had fallen asleep and Perseus passed before them carefully, without losing sight of Medusa using his shield as a mirror so as not to have to look directly at her and thus avoid turning it into stone. Thus he cut the snake-filled head of the monster with the saber of Hermes and put it in the sack. The blood shed by Medusa originated the monster Crisaor and the winged horse Pegasus.
