On Perfection:
Nature follows a geometric template for all creations. Nature can never get it right though, imperfections occur at all levels of the fractal signature. We learn to find that the true beauty in life develops from the space between chaos and perfection. As nature attempts to nail the perfect angles and ratios, it does something better; it adds character to each object by the random selection, creating unique asymmetry. The subtle variations are what also propel evolution forward. This is the evolution of the universe, life, and the mind as well. We are socially defined by the variations we chose. Chose wisely and you might change the world.

I think this happens because nature is not looking for beauty. Say a tree, it won't aim to grow in a beautiful shape. It will grow to where it can find more light and nutrients, and then because there are no trees in the exact same location or with the same characteristics, they will all be different. And they will all be beautiful in their own unique way :)
We are programmed to appreciate beauty. If someone's face is non-symmetrical enough it is perceived as ugly. Likewise, the closer to perfect symmetry, the golden ratio, and other evolutionary consensus-based cultural criteria, the more beautiful a person is. Nature is not looking for beauty, but rather, nature is following a template based on perfect geometries that are beautiful. Everything is based on perfect symmetry, spheres, octahedrons and other polyhedra, but when produced there's always mutations or imperfections and those accidents actually make the world more diverse, more beautiful and also more ugly. Nature seems to be aiming for perfection with evolution, but gets something better in the process.
