Yeah I've been there with the camera situation lol. There have been many times when I couldn't be bothered to take a photo of something. Unfortunately for me though, I often get back home and regret that decision.

"Why the hell didn't I take a picture of that!?!?" Hahaha

Also, I've been contemplating getting a watercolor paint set and having a go at painting. Your pictures have inspired me. It looks like a lot of fun and I'm in a good place for it, theres a lot of beautiful things to paint here.

I also have a way of getting super excited about something and then giving up on it almost immediately thiugh so we'll see if I actually follow through with it and buy a set. hahaha

getting a watercolor paint set

Get a good quality brand; everything else is a waste. (No Arteza and stuff - consider Schmincke or Sennelier!) And the paper is very important: at least 300 gsm. Good quality synthetic brushes will do. So, not a set, but individual items.

Check Boesner (dealer), they are in France, 2 stores in Paris I know of, so they must ship there. Boesner brand supplies have decent prices and their watercolors are made bei Schmincke. If you can, go there.

Edit: I checked. No Boesner-brand on above site. They seem to have a limited online offering in France. The store looks like it's supposed to:

Champigny is about 50 klicks from Senlis; the store in Paris is only 1/5 the size of Champigny.

This looks promising:

That's nice to hear, but remember: it's a learning marathon, not a sprint. If you're a doodler try watercolor pencils. Faber-Castell Albrecht Dürer or Koh-i-Nor Mondeluz (cheaper) but no Derwent (poor). They cost a lot less and give satisfying results with a similar look. A cheap Pentel waterbrush will suffice for those.

Koh-I-Noor on Amazon:

Thats a lot of good information, thanks for that. I never thought of the water color pencils. That might be a good route for me in the begining, especially since I'm prone to short lived hobby infatuations lol

Go with the Koh-I-Noor Mondeluz then. 72 for roundabout 50.00 EUR. Super quality, great price, available open stock. A Pentel Aquash waterbrush 5.00 EUR.

A piece of plastic roughed up with sandpaper and you can liquify the pencils off the paper and paint larger areas quickly and get great blends.
