This is the World's second biggest salt mine. It is a Khewra, Pakistan. This mine was discovered by Alexander the Great's horse.

In 326 BC, Alexander the Great, the Greek King famous for conquering an empire ranging from Asia into Africa and Europe, was making his way across Pakistan. He stop his army for some rest at the place of Khewra. Alexander's horse started licking the rock continuously. One of his soldier check why horse licking rocks. He found the rocks very salty. So the Khewra salt was discovered.
This mine is covering an area of 110 sq. km, 228 meters deep, the massive mine has over 40 kilometers of tunnels running some 730 meters into the mountain under which the salt deposits are found. To keep the huge space from collapsing in on itself, only fifty percent of the salt found is mined; the other half serves as support columns to hold up the mine.

There are many sites built with salt bricks. Some of those pictures are shared here.
