Have you ever noticed that “F” and “J” keyboard keys have bump on them? Here is the reason why.

If you have ever observed keenly you would have found that that F & J keys on keyboard have bumps on them. It is small lines that run horizontally across the lower side of F & J Keys.

They are designed to help the users locate correct keys without looking down. The reasons why only these keys have bumps is to help user place their hands in their optimum typing position.

With your index finger on two bumped keys, your left hand covers A, S, D and F while the right covers J, K, L & Colon. Both thumbs then rest on Space bar.

In addition the bump is also found on numeric “5” on the numeric keyboard to help users place their hands correctly on the keypad.
