Hello, my name is William. I am an artist from the United States, currently living in Maine. Here is my artist bio:
William Hessian was born in St. Louis Park, Minnesota and has been a resident of Maine since 2010. William is an artist, activist, teacher, game designer and social worker. In Portland, William helped start the Hidden Ladder Collective and in 2019 became the UMVA acting President. William has created 25 Public Miniature Art Hunts across the country and has also done a series of live performances called: "Canvas Kill Live" as the Canvas Killer.
Artist Statement
I describe a lot of my work as painting my 'Personal Mythology', and often explore narratives that interweave past, present and future experiences that are both true and untrue. I enjoy leaning into abstracting visual metaphors often using babies, animals or creatures to become the protagonist. In my paintings I prefer bright colors and large areas of amassed paint, and in drawings I prefer bold black lines and many detailed layers.
