Trump threatens to impose 60% tariff on imports from China. That means asics will get a lot more expensive if he actually implements his tariff strategy. That may not be a good thing for the crypto miners. Biden and his goons proposed 30% tax on energy used for mining, luckily, the proposal failed. 60% import tariff, if adopted and strictly enforced, will effectively ban btc mining in the US without specifically banning mining. Big mining companies will probably just move their operations off shores. Possibly to adversaries like Russia. Currently, us has the highest hashrate on btc, but we will probably lose that if Americans have to pay 60% more on a f*king miner than the rest of the world. Unfortunately, there is no alternative to chinese imports on miners atm. Hack, China may become the #1 in hashrate again if they undo self imposed ban. Total State control requires the CCP to ban BTC, which is why lifting their ban is high improbable I think... But then again, who figured they'd look the other way and allow some capitalism to grow their commie ways. I'm not aware of any asic not made in china currently. We hear about lokotech, auradine teraflux maybe other non Chinese manufacturers. But I have yet to see any real hardware. I'm sure it's not his intention to be against the crypto miners. Just saying such policy has the unintended effect of making crypto mining less terracore competitive in the US. At least until we have viable alternatives.
