Was it one of those washing devices used in Maramures for cleaning the clothes? I think I remember the post.

Yes, it was a washing machine, early edition π
I don't know if it was from Maramures region or not, I guess that type of device could be found pretty much everywhere.
First time when I saw something like that was more than 20 years ago in Sapanta. It was used actively by every woman in that area to wash those nice wooly blankets. Unfortunately, the only photos I took at that time were paper printed and over exposed.
We don't have something like that in Bucovina so they must be something local.
Maybe you're right.
