How to Switch Off a Christian's Brain

In hypnosis one uses 'anchor words' in suggestions to the subject. Religions all have several anchor words, literally being used to bypass the critical, objective conscious mind to reach the subjective subconscious mind. The latter accepts everything entering it as true, while the former acts as gatekeeper to keep bullshit out. But when an anchor word or phrase is used, the guard looks away.

In Christianity, like with all other religions, rituals and repetitive actions play an important role in engaging the gullible subconscious. And its victims are taught from an early age not to ask questions, to just believe. Several of these rituals, words and phrases then become anchor words. For example, you have to sing a boring song every Sunday, so your gatekeeper gets bored and start looking at that girl with the short skirt. The road to your subconscious mind then lays wide open, with it then accepting the words of the song as true.

One word that is used as anchor is 'amen', and it works like a charm. Test it yourself by saying in any group on FB something like 'isn't God great? Amen', then check the results. Instead of people asking 'can you prove it' or 'why', they'll just type amen like zombies in the comments.

So I find the included meme both apt and disturbing.

Sort:

Actually, no, we're not taught to just believe. Unlike other religions, Christianity is logical. Christianity is truth. There's no reason to be afraid of any questions.

Questions like: who did Cain and Abel marry? Their sisters. They were able to have children without the kinds of hereditary diseases that they have today.

Why does the Bible creation account take seven days when the earth is billions of years old? It was designed to tell a bronze age people who created everything. So it breaks creation down to individual days. It gives pairs of opposites like water and dry land, light and dark, animals and plants, male and female, etc. It wasn't designed to be a scientific paper.

A good book for the honest skeptic is "Evidence That Demands A Verdict" by Josh McDowell.

A good website is https://bibleevidences.com/

What I see in most atheists is that they're closed minded. They don't want to believe because they love their sins too much. Instead of believing the truth wherever it takes them they choose what to believe based on what it will cost them if they believe.

The good thing is so many atheists are so obnoxious and self-righteous that it turns people off instead of converting them.

Literally half of your comment is pure undiluted bullshit. You clearly do not understand atheism, and that atheists are far more scientific-orientated than religiots. We want answers, and we keep on looking for them, and we insist on evidence to back it up. And why do you think you can lie to an atheist? We are far more critical and we think about what we hear. You say Christians are not taught to just believe. That is a blatant lie. I grew up in a Christian household, and in a school that claimed to stick to Christian doctrine. One of the things I heard repeatedly is 'don't ask questions, just believe.' Me and many other kids had to hear that many times.

Christianity is definitely not logical at all, your second lie. Contradictions oppose logic, and the Bible is full of contradictions.

Christianity is truth? Your third lie. For example, what evidence do you have that God exists? None. So you can only claim that God exists, not state it as a fact, like every Christian do. And truth rely on verified facts.

Your fourth lie: Christians are more open-minded than atheists. That is just pure bullshit. Atheists are far more tolerant of other beliefs than Christians, that is a statistical fact. Also, atheists in general do not have a problem with the LGBTI community, while 9 out of 10 Christians do have a problem with gays. Atheists know on average the Bible far better than the average Christian. Where Christians give money to legalized con artists, we give money to science. Because atheists value life more than Christians that can't wait for everything to come to an end, we as atheists embrace life more, and tend to be more acceptable of people that are different than ourselves, like other races. That is a fact too, numerous studies confirm it.

We 'love our sins too much?' That is typical from a religiot, to present an assumption as fact. Who determine what a sin is? Certain tribes in Africa that call themselves Christians see nothing wrong with stealing from someone else, as long as that person is from another tribe. In some cultures rape is okay. In other, taking a woman as wife against her will. So who decides what is sin? You Christians? Like, you eat shrimp, while your Bible tells you it's a sin? Sin is a man-made concept to control idiots that cannot think for themselves. How retarded, how brainwashed, must one be that you need a book to tell you not to kill people. Yet that book says nothing against slavery, and then you have the audacity to claim you get your morals from it.

Regarding your last statement: Why would any atheist want to convert a Christian? And convert to what? We don't have a dead Jew that you can come and chow on, or to drink from his blood. The one and only thing every atheist want is for you Christians to start thinking critically, to ask real questions about what you believe, and to demand real answers that is properly back-up by evidence. Like: Where is God during murders? Why doesn't he stop it? And, what evidence is there that proves he exists? Religion actively discourage its idiotic believers to ask these questions. Already in Genesis the reader is discouraged on a subconscious level not to eat from the tree of knowledge, not to obtain knowledge later in life. And, it works. Look at how pathetic Christians spell in their native language compared to atheists. Atheist read much, much more than the average Christian, we ain't afraid of no imaginary character in books.
