It is unfortunately true that Australia is leading the "democratic" world in repressing liberty and freedom.
It was a problem before COVID-19 and has got much much worse.
Australian citizens don't have the most basic rights to enter and leave their own country.
For more than 6 months Australian citizens have needed special and, hard to get, permission to leave the country or re-enter it. Tens of thousands of Aussies are stranded overseas with no income or support.
Families are prevented from seeing each other.
My mother was prevented from travelling to Israel to meet her twin granddaughters and assisting us in periods we had no child care.
Australia is the only "democratic" country that restricts the rights of its citizens to enter and leave - this right is at the fundamental core of citizenship - without it a country becomes a big gaol and citizenship is just a prison uniform.
The Soviet Union implemented such policies against Jews and others until it was forced to let Jews leave by the "Let My People Go" campaign in the 1980s.
Most repressive lockdown
In the state of Victoria they are under the longest, most repressive and most violently enforced lockdown in the world, with a number of COVID cases that is tiny (15 a day) by standards elsewhere.
Privacy destroyed
Federally, they have passed legislation enforcing backdoors on encrypted communications, thus destroying privacy.
Of course the hypocritical politicans who passed this law depriving the general public of their rights to privacy all use heavily encrypted Signal, which has no Australian presence and thus doesn't have to comply.
Freedom of inter-state movement blocked
Many States have repressed constitutionally protected freedom of movement between states for months.
My parents were prevented from crossing state-lines to visit my brother and their grandchildren in Queensland.
Freedom of political discourse and protest destroyed
People, including preganant mothers, have been arrested in their own homes for Facebook posts calling for peaceful mask wearing protests against lockdowns. This is an infringement of the implied constitution freedom of political discourse - yet virtually nothing has been done to stop it.
Part of the reason I left Australia a decade ago and moved to Israel is that I could see the writing on the wall regarding these things.
Ironically Israel is far more free, even in the recent lockdown when it had the highest level of COVID positive tests per capita in the world.
Protests have always been allowed and over 200,000 protested against lockdowns around the country last week.
Israelis have never been prevented from entering or leaving the country.
There are no encryption backdoor requirements and the Supreme Court has upheld privacy rights.
Unfortunately I still have a lot of family including my parents and son trapped in Australia.
So Australia's descent into tyranny is of great concern to me.
The lockdown has given the "progressive" leaders the excuse to exercise the powers that they have always desired. I hope that people come out of this plandemic realizing that our over zealous leaders are led by a desire for power and really don't have the interests of the people at heart.

Ask any one of those folks if they support some form of rule by force and they will each tell you yes, they just don't like it on this foot.
