Is it possible to use two batteries in my car connected in parallel?

Yes you can, but Im interested why you would want to?

Anyway, heres the electrical explanation!

The voltage would remain the same as they are connected in parallel and not in series, this is the same as when we jump start a car, we connect one cars battery from red to red and black to black, positive to positive and negative to negative. What happens is the car with the flat battery takes current from the other cars battery as whats happening is the potentials of both batteries are trying to balance up, leave them connected in series for long enough and they will basically become one but with double the potential  current and storage capacity.

Many trucks and boats use 2 or more batteries to help them start but still 12v but with the need for i creased current, or power to turn a larger engine with higher compression.

The other problem is you would need to upgrade your alternator to be able to recharge this higher power, and in doing so, the engine would use more fuel.

I look forward to your reply telling us why you want to do this!

Thanks :-)

Great answer. I think I might know why the OP wants to do it. I did it myself years ago to help power the subwoofers in my car (along with two capacitors). I upgraded my alternator too. Still had to charge them up once a month though.

I want to connect two batteries for because i want to add a 2000watts amplifier and i need more energy to keep it going with my engine off. Or what do you suggest instead.

By the way thank you for the explanation.
