Jose Altuve hit a three-run double, Charlie Morton threw a three-hitter in seven chapters, and the Houston Astros rolled the Seattle Mariners 9-2 on Thursday.
After losing the first game of the series, the Astros spun their third consecutive victory, thanks to another good exhibition on the mound. Morton allowed singles from Mitch Haniger, as well as from Dominicans Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz, but otherwise nullified Seattle's attack.
During the four-game series, Houston's starters looked dominant. None of the four allowed more than two clean runs.
Morton (3-0) was the best of them all. He combined a good curve with a straight that continued to reach 95 miles per hour in the seventh episode.
He distributed eight punches, without giving tickets. He retired 15 enemies in a row after Haniger hit a single with one out in the second inning and before Cruz hit a broken bat hit in the seventh.
No runner came to the middle in front of Morton.
The double of the Venezuelan Altuve in the fifth act crowned an inning in which the defense did not help the opener Marco Gonzales (1-2), who was defeated.
For the Astros, Venezuelans Altuve 4-3 with one run scored and four produced, Marwin Gonzalez 4-1. The Puerto Rican Carlos Correa 3-1 with a push.
