NBA Basketball Eastern Conference Review for the upcoming 2018 season

in #basketball7 years ago (edited)

No 1. Boston Celtics

They have the best coach in the East with Brad Stevens, who was able to get the number 1 seed for the regular season with a hard working team that got everything from the talent which they had on the roster. Now he has a core of Irving, Hayward, and Al Horford, plus back to back No. 3 picks in Brown and Tatum as well as the spartan 6th man in Marcus Smart . It might take some time in the 1st Half of the season, but if they now have talent to beat the Cavs.

No 2. Cleveland Cavaliers

LeBron James is the best player in the East, but looking at last year he is not going to waste his energy during the regular season. Kyrie Irving going to Boston is a big deal as he carried the team during the regular season at times. Everyone loves Isaiah Thomas, but his hip could become a real issue as at 5'9" and his style takes a serious pounding on his body. Love will be one of the best big men the east although on offense he will he hanging out at the 3 point line. Jae Crowder adds toughness but not significant up grade on the wing from their current players.

No 3. Washington Wizards

John Wall and Bradley Beal are the best back-court in the east supplanting Toronto's back court of Lowery and DeRozen. Hence why they rank as No. 3. Otto Porter has been solid, but the Wizards overpaid because of an offer sheet from the Nets, this will hurt the Wizards in the future.

No 4. Toronto Raptors

For the last several years Lowry and DeRozen one of the best backcourts in the East. Serge Ibaka was re-signed, but all the other teams above them here are more complete teams. Good team, but not a great team.

No 5. Milwaukee Bucks

Giannis Antetokounmpo is on the rise, but still needs to develop his outside shot. If Jabari Parker, and Khris Middleton can stay health by the time of the playoffs then they can do some damage. NBA Rookie of the Year Malcolm Brogdon can hopefully keep developing, this is still a team of the future not the now.

No 6. Philadelphia 76ers

Everything revolves around Joel Embiid staying healthy. He is a total stud on both ends of the floor. Ben Simmons still has no outside shot, so teams will challenge this weakness. Markelle Fultz, Dario Saric, and Jahlil Okafor will support the J&B show. Adding J.J. Redick and Johnson should help out these kids make it to the playoffs on Embiid's talent. The "PROCESS" is over!

No 7. Miami Heat

Hassan Whiteside and Goran Dragic form great inside outside game, and see if they can continue what they started in the 2nd half of last years NBA season.

No 8. Charlotte Hornets

Kemba Walker, Nicolas Batum, and Malik Monk are player which can guard and shoot. Hopefully Dwight Howard does not ruin the team chemistry and they make the playoffs.

No 9. New York Knicks

The unicorn that is Kristaps Porzingis will have much on his shoulders, but is one of the bright young stars to come into the NBA. Now Jackson is gone the Knick's can focus on building around KP, but will try, I mean miss the playoffs.

No 10. Detroit Pistons

Pieces are here if this was the 1990's they would make the playoffs, but the physical game has now become a much faster game and they don't have the pieces for the game now in 2017-18 season. Will they blow this up and try to get quicker and with better shooting.

No 11. Indiana Pacers

Myles Turner is one of the stronger big man in the East and Victor Oladipo can defend in the back court. But they are long way from the playoffs.

No 12. Orlando Magic

No star on this roster, but have a bunch of young guys who could be on the ration of many teams. No stars=No playoffs

No 13. Brooklyn Nets

D’Angelo Russell is an up grade of talent on this roster and if Lin can run the point, they are still lottery bound but not worst team in the east. The Cavs will keeping tabs since they now own the final year of one of the worst trades in history with Boston.

No 14. Chicago Bulls

Starting over now.

No 15. Atlanta Hawks

All Star goes to the west in Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard goes to the Hornets given his game is now of a bygone era. Mike Budenholzer and now Dennis Schroder are the stars? Say hello to the lottery.
