How to improve your gameplay in Battlefield games

Battlefield is a series of first-person shooter video games produced by Electronic Arts that focuses on squads, teamwork and vehicles. The difference between Battlefield and most FPS games is that players must utilize tactics and teamwork to achieve an objective.

Personally, here are my tips on how to be a better player in Battlefield:

  1. First off, don't rush. Before you go to an objective, be sure to check the area for enemies as well as snipers afar. You can see where the snipers are by the glint of their scopes.

  2. Always spot. Battlefield features a gameplay mechanic where you spot and tag enemy units and vehicles. This feature allows your teammates to see the enemies you tagged in their mini-map. This is very helpful especially in tight areas as well as warning your team of nearby enemy vehicles.

  3. Be a role player. Battlefield features different classes the player can choose. The classes differ each game in the series but it always features a medic, who revives fallen allies or gives medical assistance; a support, who provides extra ammo and firepower; an engineer, an anti-vehicle and demolitions expert, using anti-tank and anti-air weapons as well as repairing friendly vehicles; and a sniper/scout, a long range shooter providing support as well as spotting enemies from afar. Each class has its own role and effective use of the class can turn the tides of battle.

  4. Secure the area before you go. As said in the first one, check for enemies before you go in. Once you go in, be sure to check every corner for enemies since there are many blind spots they will use against you. In most game modes, you cannot capture an objective unless you eliminate all enemies.

  5. Utilize burst fire. Unlike other FPS games, the guns in Battlefield has stability and accuracy. Stability means the control of recoil of a gun and accuracy means how close the bullets are at their intended target. With these to factors it is advisable for players to burst fire using automatic weapons, especially at long range, to effectively hit the target.

  6. Lead the target at long range. In Battlefield, you will experience bullet drop and bullet travel time. This means that at long range, it will take longer for you to hit your target after you fired your gun. To compensate this, especially when playing as scout/sniper, aim your gun ahead of your target at the same direction when are moving and you will have to adjust the angle of trajectory depending on the distance from your target. This will prove difficult at first but a few practice will have you land shots at long range.

  7. Use vehicles. Most game modes and maps in Battlefield features vehicles the player can use. Players can drive tanks and attack boats as well as pilot jets and helicopters, among others. Just be sure there is an engineer in your team or nearby to repair the vehicle when taking damage.

  8. Be aware of footsteps and enemy voices. In-game, you can hear enemy voices and footsteps nearby. This can be easily heard when you are wearing earphones or a headset. This can be very useful especially when the enemies aren't spotted.

Hope my tips above can help other Battlefield players out there as well as other FPS players. If you guys have other tips and tricks you know, please leave a reply. Thanks for reading!
