Manjuyod Sandbar and Dolphin Watch

Best time to visit Manjuyod is early morning, we arrived in Bais around 6:30am then we went to the market to buy Bangus and Liempo for our lunch.

From Dumaguete to Bais fare is Php 60 ($1) for non air-con and Php 70 ($1.50) for air-conditioned bus.

Tricycle from Bais city to Capiñahan Wharf. is Php 100 ($2) one way.

Hindi masyado kita ung sandbar during our visit. According to our tour guide best time to visit daw is dry season talagang kitang kita ung sand bar. But we’re lucky kasi low tide pa so kahit papano may nakita kami . ha ha

Tip: Contact tour guide and boat man 2 weeks prior your visit to check the Tide Forecast. Best time talaga is from March to May to see the 7 km stretch of powdery white sand.

We contacted an private boat for our tour kasi its cheaper- please make sure to visit Bais tourism office before going to Capiñahan Wharf.

Our boat rental cost Php 2,000 ($40) for 3 person but usually they charge from Php 2,500-3,000 ($50- $60) we had a discount kasi may couple kaming kasabay.

So first stop, is the sandbar kasi daw baka mag-high tide na.

Before we leave the sandbar area – may nag-alok ng wild oyster – we bought half kilo for Php 150 ($3).

Eat this raw with vinegar. Yum!

Kuya cocoy and one of his guy -also cooked lunch for us with no extra charge- we share na lang din our food to them.

Tip: While in bais, buy na all the things you need like puso (rice) , water, ulam like fish liempo, etc. Although some small boats sa may cottages area also offer fish and they will cook it din for you kaso may charge and you have to wait pa pag madami nagpapaluto so its better if you buy na don sa market then si kuya cocoy na mgluluto 🙂 Majority of the boats naman has grilling materials and may toilet din 🙂

After sandbar we went to Tañon Strait for the Dolphin Watching. From 6am to 10am in the morning, the chances of seeing dolphins and whales in Bais are great.

Well it’s not easy to see them during this season specially with the habagat kasi malakas ang alon, we literally need to make habol ha ha! I don’t have a nice picture - only screen shots from video clips.

We spend almost 1 1/2 hr in this area until we got tired hehe it was a great experience compare to going to theme parks. It is nice to see them in the wild like this.

After dolphin watching we went to the area where the floating cottages are located : By the way as far as I know Bais Tourism offers the cottages din not sure with the rated. I tried to contact them via email about 2 mos before this travel but I didn't get any response.

The tide is high by this time so you won't be able to see the sand bar. On this area there are locals who offers banana boat and other water activities.

If you don’t want to wake up early you can always stay at Bais , there are hotels in the area too. The answer is google. :)

We finished around 12nn and headed back to Capiñahan Wharf. We reached Dumaguete around 2pm just in time to take a rest before our flight.
