TREE ROOT ART

in #beautifulsunday6 years ago

Happy Sunday to all.

Today began in our usual fashion, up by 6am, coffee ready, compliments of my hubby who generally awakes by 5am. All is quiet and calm.

Since the "Virus" has us all pinned down, my friend and I now walk every morning at 10am. We have managed to work up to 2 miles a day. Pretty good for us 'mature ladies". It is a pretty good work out for us, the road goes up and down, with some pretty steep inclines, so we can feel the burn.

Now energized,I continue to stroll my property with my camera in hope of being inspired for a #beautifulsunday, #sublimesunday post.

After a very bad ice storm in the dead of winter several years ago, we had some big old trees fall down. Some of these trees were actually uprooted. After some chain saw work, this big root was left in the woods, caked with mud. It was forgotten about until Spring. Walking through the woods that Spring a came across the root ball and started to inspect. I peeled some bark off, wiped off some of the mud and realized this root could be a work of art.

I would call it my Wood Art.

Some of the smaller roots took on their own look, some looked like birds to me, some like monsters, out of a sci-fi movie, all were interesting and colorful.

It's amazing how the wood was marbled with colors, all different shades and shapes. Unique.

What a wonderful morning, outside on the homestead let's me breathe and forget my worries. Just what we all need to do, just BREATHE...

Many thanks to @ace108 #beautifulsunday and also @cOff33a #sublimesunday. Enjoy sharing Sundays with you.

Here's just a few more of my Wood Art.

Okay so I will take one of those and a couple bottles of that amazing maple syrup. Do you guys ship freight? Hahahaha. I remember when @thebigsweed made one of those. Super cool and 110% original.

I have been spending the time to finish up a bunch of loose ends on old projects. The more I look around the more little things I keep finding. Dang I am terrible at saying, “I will get that last part later since I don’t have it right now” then 2 years later it finally gets done. Hahaha

Well, HELLO @jlsplatts, nice to hear from you.
Hope you and yours are well and happy.
I know the kids are probably driving you crazy, well maybe not you since I assume you are still out working. We are keeping busy and off the grid.
I do miss my kids and grandkids though, but it is what it is.
Don't worry, the syrup is in the bag. As far as shipping my Wood Art...
Pray for crypto to skyrocket, cos I think the shipping would be a whole bunch of $$

Stay safe!!

Did you finish that wood?

I noticed that it seems pretty glossy in some of the shots.

Hello to you @a-non-e-mooose.

Yes, after peeling off all of the bark, power washing the entire root ball, I sanded most of it with a small hand sander then applied multiple layers of clear wood preserve. It was a really fun project that took several months to complete.

Now I am able to add wind chimes, holiday ornaments, all sorts of decorative additions.

Thanks for stopping by, appreciate it!!

Some interesting shapes and patters there. one of those photos looks like gnarled hands grasping at each other. Kind of cool. I hope you're feeling better. a little more settled and that things are also well with your children who work in the medical industry.

Oh hello there my friend and mentor.
Yes, and Yes, Everyone is doing well, adapting to this f-uped world we live in.

So glad to be back to posting, reading and commenting, but most importantly to be communicating. It's a nice outlet when being pinned in place.
Hope you and Faith are enjoying time together, remember time is something that you cannot buy, spend it wisely. This from a women married 44 years and counting.

Oh yes, time certainly is a precious commodity! We try and make the most of it, I think we do a reasonable job over all and given the current situation we work a little harder to keep focused on connection.

It's good to hear things have levelled out a little, now we need the virus to decline and rebound to begin.

That's really cool how you finished that for art! it does have a lot of interesting forms to look at.

Good morning @goldenoakfarm, thanks for dropping by.
That was a really fun project, a lot of work but I took my time and of course @thebigsweed helped me a little.😏

Does this look like a deer staring at you?

Good morning @ace108, that is exacly what I see.
When I finally finished, well I should say when we finished the project, @thebigsweed and I were intrigued by all the different creatures we saw.
I took us several months to finish but we enjoyed the process as must as the finished product.

Be well Be safe.

Ah... then I'm not seeing things.
All the best with the future work.
