Some beers are just... well.... weird. In this series I will feature the most bizarre beers out there. Some might have unusual ingredients, others might have a strange colour and more others might actually be just as interesting to taste as they are bizarre.
In today's episode: Bacon beer
Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Bacon Maple Ale
Well, you might know a few smoked stouts or other smoked ales. You might even know one that has sort of a bacon taste. But you definitely didn't have one in a cute pink bottle, did you?
Anyway, the picture tells you everything about what you can expect from the taste: bacon, sweet bread and maple syrup. Personally, I didn't like it. I just thought the guy on the label looked pretty badass.
Brewery: Rogue Ales, Oregon, U.S.A.
Beer style: Smoked Ale
Alcohol: 6,5 %

Yeah, I tried other smoked beers that were excellent, such as Bloed, Zweet & Tranen by Brouwerij De Molen. https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/de-molen-bloed-zweet-tranen-blood-sweat-tears/91154/. But that pink bacon thing was pretty horrible. Still one I won't easily forget in such a bottle.
Yeah, if I see it now I will have to buy it - so they are doing something right!
I have had this beer, it not suite as good as it sounds in concept, but well worth a try. the smokey rather than sweet - but who could resist that bright pink bottle.
