Dee’s Knots

So if you love a play on word I’ve got the beer for you. Dee’s knots (insert immature joke) by Mikkeller Brewery in San Diego is a New England Style IPA brewed with Ekuanot and Idaho Gem.

The beer is simple, but flavorful which makes this beer a perfect go to NEIPA. However, being that I’m not in California it’s a bit harder to find. So I’ll be sticking with my local NEIPAs.

This beer is aromatic. I'm getting notes of honey dew and tropical fruits. There's also some herbal notes that are paired with more subtle bread and malt notes. It's not overly complex, but it does have a pretty good smell.

The beers pours a pretty murky medium to dark yellow with a moderate amount of fine carbonation. Those bubbles rise against the glass and leave a slight yellow/white lacing. It's a pretty beer, but most NEIPAs are.

The flavor is well balanced as well. Upfront there are notes of wheat and bread. That turns into some nice oat and grain sweetness. The middle is strong fruit and citrus flavors. While the finish is bitter with hoppy herbal notes. The transition between the front, middle and finish was notable. It's a good flavored beer.

The mouthfeel was light and carbonated. It's typical of a NEIPA. It did not have as much chew as some other NEIPAs I've tried. Overall, it's a pretty good beer. If it was a local brewery I would have more of these stock in my house.

That's a pretty good looking beer, nice colours, is that yeast particles or little left over hop leaves in the bottom of the glass?

Looks like a great !BEER
Cheers!!
